Fish product sold in SuperValu, Dunnes Stores and others recalled due to presence of disease-causing bacteria

An urgent recall has been issued for smoked salmon sold in Irish supermarkets due to the presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

FSAI has warned against the consumption of Burren Smokehouse Smoked Irish Organic Salmon due to the detection of a very low level of pathogenic bacteria.

The implicated batches are the following:

Pack sizes: 90g, 180g, 500g, 1 kg, approval number: IE MO 0022 EC with batch code: 288/02

Symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes infection can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.

The infection can cause serious complications in rare cases.

Pregnant people, babies, and those with weakened immune systems, including the elderly can be more vulnerable to Listeria monocytogenes infections.

Burren Smokehouse Smoked Irish Organic Salmon has been recalled due to the presence of Listeria monocytogenes (FSAI)

The incubation period (time between initial infection and first symptoms appearing) is on average 3 weeks but can range between 3 and 70 days.
