O'Connell Street has welcomed the first Uyghur restaurant in Ireland.
Foodies who love trying out new cuisines would be excited to learn about the new restaurant Afanti. Uyghurs are a Turkic ethnic minority in China whose cuisine centres around roasted mutton and beef, as well as kebab and rice dishes.
Afanti's menu includes things like deep fried crispy chicken with naan, hot chicken stew, and hand-pulled flat noodles with spicy chicken or stir-fried beef. Their chef specials include lamb skewers and Uyghur pilaf with rice, lamb and veggies. They also have desserts like baklava, yogurt with nuts and cold drinks.

You might have heard about this ethnic minority from the news, as China has been accused both by Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch of crimes against humanity. Meanwhile, Uyghur activists are saying China is trying to erase their culture.
But if you want to get a glimpse into it, you can find Afanti on Cavendish Row on O'Connell Street Upper. It is open from Tuesday to Sunday between 4pm and 10pm.
