Greater Manchester could experience a ‘soft heatwave’ next week just days after a yellow warning for high winds is set to end.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds in parts of the country this week, with forecasters warning of some disruption on Tuesday and Wednesday where Greater Manchester could see wind gusts of up to 34mph.
But a meteorologist is predicting that the weather warning, which will be in effect from tomorrow afternoon (April 11) until Wednesday morning, will be short-lived and the country could see the first 'heatwave' of 2023 as temperatures rise at the weekend.

Jim Dale, senior meteorologist at British Weather Services, said he predicts temperatures could rise from Saturday (April 15), with some places potentially seeing highs of around 25C.
Speaking to the Express, he explained: “We do get heatwaves in April, it does happen. It'll be a soft heatwave for the second half of April, it could get somewhere in the mid-20s pushing to May, in that general direction.
"I can't be overly detailed at the moment, but the signs are there for this kind of change - it's when you see the charts going in that direction. The only thing we have to work with is unpredictability - but it is certainly going that way at the moment."
Maps from Netweather, an interactive tool based on GFS weather models, show a plume of warmer air hitting northern France next Monday (April 17). It could see temperatures of 20C hitting London and its suburbs later in the week while Greater Manchester could see highs of 19C.
The Met Office has however warned in its long-range forecast that conditions through mid-April are likely to stay the same.
It said: "Generally, a continuation of conditions through mid-April is most likely. However, there is potential for more widely unsettled and perhaps windy weather at first, before settled conditions re-establish later in the month. It is most likely that temperatures will be close to or just above average."
The Met Office’s current forecast for Saturday in Manchester is a sunny but cloudy 13C, whilst Sunday is looking to be a cloudy but clear day with temperatures of around 16C.
