First picture of 'wonderful' gran found dead in Aberdeen as cops charge man

The family of a 58-year-old woman found dead in a property in Aberdeen on Sunday have paid tribute to the 'wonderful grandmother'.

Emergency services, included armed officers, raced to Glenbervie Road in the Torry area at around 6pm on Sunday following reports of a man and woman found injured within a property.

The woman was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Police on Monday evening confirmed the woman who died was grandmother Sherry Bruce.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with Sherry's death and is due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Sherry's grieving family issued a statement through Police Scotland and said she was a 'kind and caring mum' and 'wonderful grandmother' who will be 'sorely missed'.

It read: "She was a kind and caring mum with a soft heart who adored everyone she met.

"She was very family oriented and devoted to her job.

"She was loyal and a wonderful grandmother and will be sorely missed."

Police were initially called to the scene following reports of a woman, Sherry, and man who were both found injured within a property.

The man, aged 26, was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he remains in a stable condition.

Police expressed their condolences and thanked the local community for their help with the probe.

Anyone with information who has not yet come forward is urged to do so.

Detective Inspector Gary Winter said: "Our thoughts remain with Sherry’s family at what continues to be a difficult time for them.

"I would also like to thank the local community for their patience, help and assistance during our investigation and to those who came forward with information.

"Anyone with information who has not yet come forward is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 2499 of Sunday, April 3."
