A 69-year-old woman from the US who died in a horror crash on the A9 has been named by police.
Jacalyn Margittay, of Sturgeon Bay in Wisconsin, died after the dark grey Hyundai i10 car she was driving collided with a white Volkswagen Golf and a white Ford Transit van on the A9 at Dunkeld around 12pm on Friday, September 16.
Emergency services, including Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service, raced to the crash site but sadly, Jacalyn could not be saved, and was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The mum-of-three had been in Scotland with a friend, and had been visiting loved ones on her travels. The passenger, a 76-year-old woman, was airlifted to Ninewells hospital following the smash.
She sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Golf, a 71-year-old man, and the passenger, a 53-year-old woman, were also taken to Ninewells Hospital by paramedics, both with serious injuries.
The driver of the van was not injured. Following her tragic passing, tributes have flooded in for Jacalyn, who is said to have died 'having the time of her life'.
The woman's heartbroken family released a statement through Police Scotland. They said: “Jacalyn Margittay was traveling with a dear friend, visiting loved ones, and died having the time of her life.
"She is survived by her partner Daniel Karnopp, and her children Nichja (David) Yeaman, Gina (Tim) Chandler, and Andrew (Rickijo) Heimbuch.”
Officers have confirmed that enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the accident and anyone with information who has not yet come forward is being urged to call 101, quoting reference 1257 of Friday, 16 September.
