First picture of teenager, 18, stabbed to death on upmarket street in west London as man charged

Berkan Demir, 18, collapsed from a neck wound - (Metropolitan Police)

A man has been charged with murder after a teenager known to him died in a double stabbing at home in west London.

Berkan Demir, 18, collapsed from a neck wound at the residential address in Lena Gardens, Hammersmith on Sunday evening.

The Metropolitan Police were called just 6pm to reports of an incident in the road where family houses sell for £2.4million.

Ahmed Said, 31, also of Lena Gardens, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

Both men know each other but not related, a force spokesman said.

A post-mortem examination took place on Tuesday and confirmed the cause of death as sharp force trauma to the left side of the neck.

Berkan’s family have asked for privacy at this time, a force spokeswoman said.

Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command continue to lead the investigation into the killing that happened on the same street as Flora Gardens Primary School and near Goldhawk Road London Underground station.

Said also suffered stab wounds and was taken to hospital in a stable condition before being discharged into police custody.

Superintendent Pali Grewal, who leads neighbourhood policing in Hammersmith and Fulham, said: “Our thoughts remain with the victim’s loved ones as they come to terms with the tragic events of Sunday evening.

“We understand this will be distressing news for those living locally.

“A crime scene remains in place at Lena Gardens and residents can expect to see increased police patrols in the area. I encourage anyone to approach our officers if you have any concerns or questions.”

Berkan is the third teenager to be killed in 2026.

A 16-year-old boy is charged with murdering 18-year-old Maliki Sharma in Victoria Road, Feltham at around 5pm on January 12.

An unnamed 18-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Heaton Road, Peckham at 7.11pm on Saturday, February 14.

Anybody with information that may help police is urged to call 101, quoting reference 5093/15MAR, or via independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
