A Scots pensioner who tragically died following a horror crash in Shetland has been named Kathleen McLachlan.
The 72-year-old suffered serious injuries in a collision on Pier Road, Walls, Shetland shortly after 1.10pm on Friday, March 17. The incident involved a black Citroen Berlingo and a parked orange Suzuki Swift.
Kathleen, from Virkie, was rushed to Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick and later transferred to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for further treatment. Despite doctors best efforts, they were unable to save her and she sadly passed away.
There were no other reported injuries.
Police Scotland says an investigation into the crash is ongoing and have urged anyone with information on the incident to get in touch.
Police Sergeant Callum MacAulay of the Road Policing Unit at Dingwall said: “Our thoughts remain with Kathleen’s family and friends at this very difficult time for them.
“Enquiries into the crash are ongoing and anyone with information that may assist us should contact 101 with reference number 1585 of 17 March.”
