A man who died following a crash in the Borders has been named. Colin Elliot, 50, was pronounced dead after the van he was driving collided was a lorry on the A1 north of Eyemouth at around 3.30am on Thursday, 19 January.
Officers are still investigating the crash and have asked anyone with information to come forward. The family of the much-loved dad from Cumnock have since paid tribute, saying he was a 'much-loved' father.
They said in a statement: "We are all deeply saddened by the passing of Colin Elliot. Colin was a much loved husband, father, step-father, son and brother.
“He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him and had the pleasure of being in his company.”
Writing on Facebook his wife Dawn Elliot said: "There are not enough words to describe how myself and his family are feeling right now. I know my heart went with Colin the moment l was told.
"l can't even begin to imagine life without him. He was my total world. My person.
"I would like for everyone to please remember the weird and wonderful person Colin was. And if you were in his small circle then u were truly blessed just like l was.
"I am forever grateful l got to meet my person, my soul mate. You rest easy my big pain in my a**e. l will forever love you.
"It's not goodbye forever because l believe we will be together again."
Constable Paul Aitchison, from the Lothian and Scottish Borders Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with Colin’s family and friends at this difficult time.
“Our investigation into the collision is ongoing. I would urge any witnesses or anyone with information, who has not yet spoken to police, to contact us.
“Anyone with information should contact officers through 101, quoting incident number 0282 of 19 January, 2023.”
