First look inside the new Brabazon apartments which go on sale this weekend

This is the first glimpse inside a new apartment block at the huge new Brabazon housing development, which will go up for sale this weekend.

A collection of studio, one, two and three-bedroom flats will be sold off-plan from this Saturday, with their completion expected during 2024. The apartments will be located in new building The Dials and will each come with allocated parking, secure cycle storage and energy-efficient appliances included.

Warmed by underfloor heating beneath its oak-floored living areas, porcelain-tiled bathrooms and carpeted bedrooms, the homes will feature high ceilings and picture windows to let in maximum natural light.

And each will have access to a range of outdoor spaces, from communal gardens to private balconies and terraces – in addition to the enormous public park being laid out nearby . Construction of the Brabazon development began in early 2020, with initial plans for 2,675 homes upped by 1,000 in 2021 to meet rising demand.

It is taking place on the former site of Bristol Filton Airport, which began its life as the home of the British and Colonial Aeroplane Company in 1910.

Thousands of Bristol B2 Fighters were built there during the First World War, while US aircraft were assembled there before fighting over France during World War Two.

The development is named for the Bristol Brabazon, the pioneering Transatlantic airliner designed by the Bristol Aeroplane Company. The Filton aerodrome was specially expanded during the 1949s to facilitate construction of the prototype aircraft.

A total of 33 homes at the six-storey Navigator Building have all been sold, prompting Brabazon housing developer YTL to move up the release of apartments at The Dials.

Created by award-winning local architects Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, apartments at The Dials occupy a south-facing hillside criss-crossed by tree-lined streets.

Residents will also have access to a dedicated fitness centre and an on-site estate manager, all protected by security systems including fob access, entry phones and CCTV coverage.

YTL promotional materials describe the 380-acre housing project as “the most exciting new city district in the South West,” including shops and restaurants as well as homes and leafy green space.

Over £100 million is being invested in local infrastructure including a new railways station connecting Brabazon to Bristol Temple Meads in under 15 minutes.

Jon McDiarmid, director at YTL, said: “It was incredible to see how quickly the apartments at The Navigator Building sold out earlier this year.

“It’s clear that local people are excited to see this historic former airfield be transformed and want to be part of the next generation to shape the future at Brabazon.”

He added: “Offering more space, more flexibility and much, much more included as standard, the studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments that will be available to reserve from this weekend will not only be a place to live, but a place to enjoy the best that life has to offer.”
