A Bristol bar has reopened its doors for the first time this year following a month-long revamp. The Keynsham Courtyard, formally known as The Wine Bar, underwent a major refurbishment after landlord Robert Moore decided it needed a clearer vision 'in keeping with the growing number of young professionals moving to the town'.
He said the bar’s grand reopening on February 3 was a hit with punters eager to check out the new changes. “We had a record-breaking weekend with a fantastic amount of people crossing the threshold,” he added.
Mr Moore took over the bar in December 2020 as he thought it had great potential. “It had been through musical landlords for many years and was very much struggling even before the Covid years. In my mind it needed a clear vision for a new proposition,” he said.

The building is more than 300 years old and was originally a coaching inn around the late 1700s. It has been transformed into a thriving live music venue with a fresh look. With combined investment from the pub group Admiral Taverns, the space was given new internal decor, flooring and a new frontage. A previous renovation in 2021 saw the addition of decking, long tables and seating outside.
Mr Moore said: “I am thrilled to be reopening The Keynsham Courtyard and showcase its revitalised look and feel to the community. I am extremely pleased with the results so far and am proud of how I’ve taken this pub from strength to strength over the last two years.”
Visitors can expect a premium drinks selection, including speciality cocktails, a new list of wines from all over the world, the best draught products, and premium spirits. Mr Moore is also planning to introduce food.
The opening hours are from 10am Monday to Sunday with closing times between 10pm and 11pm depending on the day. Mr Moore told Bristol Live that he is now looking to extend the opening hours. He said the bar was currently under an hours restriction due to historical incidents of anti-social behaviour.
Mr Moore is hoping to get that restriction lifted. He said: “In the two years I've been here we have had virtually no issues with anti-social behaviour so with this good track record, we are hoping to get this condition removed and are in the process of doing so.”
