Glasgow is now home to the brand-new record store, Assai Records which sells an array of vinyl’s for all tastes and preferences.
The much-loved Dundee vinyl retailer has opened in the city centre on Sauchiehall Street with the store occupying the former Ladbrokes betting shop. The new addition to the company opened up this week and we, alongside other music enthusiasts, were very excited to go along.
At Glasgow Live we visited Assai Records on Sauchiehall Street to see what all the fuss was about and we were amazed at the variety of music to choose from.

On entry to the premises the record store has a lovely wooden, till section which has a record playing through the stores music system.
On the left hand side, the store has a window stretching to the back wall letting natural light inside the shop. Alongside the front there is a good selection of music vinyl genres including modern pop and hip-hop.
However, what makes the front of the shop special is that there is a section dedicated to Scottish music artists. From the pictures you can see vinyl’s by Glasgow’s very own Gerry Cinnamon and the SNUTS who originate from West Lothian.
There is also a small section for vinyl’s that are on offer with the likes of Jake Bugg, Pink Floyd, ABBA Voyage and many more featured.
On the back wall you will discover that there is an array of sections including new releases such as Harry Style’s very popular album ‘Harry’s House’ and JOSEF’s new LP.
In the corner of the back wall there is a section that really caught our eye, a part of the shop that has been dedicated to Soundtracks from movies.
From the pictures you can see vinyls from the likes of the musical, Grease, Pulp Fiction and a few other blockbuster favourites which all had notably popular albums.
Alongside the sections that we have detailed there is a vast array of other genres on vinyl including rock, pop, soul, jazz and dance.
There is also small, designated sections in the shop with items on sale such as fan merchandise.
Manager of the new Assai Record Store on Sauchiehall Street, Cameron Black, said: “It’s really, exciting. We wanted to be in the heart of the city and also close to some amazing venues on Sauchiehall Street.”
