Channel 4 has offered a glimpse at its latest comedy-drama Chivalry starring and written by Steve Coogan and Sarah Solemani. The six-part series will see Alan Partridge actor Steve play filmmaker Cameron O’Neill.
He'll be joined by Bridget Jones star Sarah as filmmaker Bobby. One of the teaser images show the pair on set as their characters. Cameron has been described as a "successful" and Bobby a "passionate indie-darling" filmmaker.
Plenty of famous faces are also joining the cast including Emmy-award winning actress Wanda Sykes as shrewd studio executive Jean Shrill. Actress Sienna Miller will star as Lark, the leading actress in one of O’Neill’s films and comedian and This Way Up star Aisling Bea as intimacy coordinator Tatiana.
Comedian Lolly Adefope will also feature as Cameron’s latest assistant Ama and film director Adjani Salmon as Bobby’s devoted and patient husband, Aston. The first look pictures below show Aisling and Wanda in their roles.
Channel 4 have revealed that the new comedy series is set to explore the complexity of gender politics in the #MeToo movement in the film and TV industry. “Chivalry grants the audience permission to laugh while asking complex questions that as a society, we often find hard to discuss,” the broadcaster added.
The synopsis reads: "Chivalry offers a fresh new look on gender politics and romance, and asks the question: can one build and sustain a successful, relevant career in Hollywood without sacrificing authenticity. How fluid are our politics and how political are our fluids? And can romance blossom - not in spite of #MeToo, but because of it?
"Chivalry explores the truths and the myths behind these characters, their judgements of each other and their assumptions of themselves, seeking to break down and explore classic stereotypes."
Chivalry is set to air on Channel 4 and All 4 this Spring - a release date is yet to be confirmed.
