First look at Love Island Winter 2023 as fans get glimpse at new host Maya Jama

A brand new trailer has just dropped for the Winter edition of Love Island 2023, and features Maya Jama as the brand new host, replacing Laura Whitmore.

The Metro reports that the 28-year-old has been described as radiant in the short preview, dressed in a black sequined jumpsuit with horoscope detailing on it.

The teaser aired during Emmerdale on Monday night, and viewers were also treated to a clip featuring a velvet bucking bronco.

Everybody has been excited for the new series to start, as the series new host Maya replaces the much-criticised Laura Whitmore.

Maya was announced as the new host of Love Island in October this year, after weeks of speculation. At the time, the star said: "I’ve always been such a massive Love Island fan and I’m so excited to be hosting one of the nation’s favourite shows!

"I can’t wait to get into the villa to meet all of the islanders."

Laura has already thrown her support behind Maya, writing on Instagram: "Yes girl!! So delighted for you! You’re gonna be fab."

Laura announced in August that she would be stepping down from the series after two years as host. The 37-year-old had fronted the programme, and its spin-off series Aftersun, since 2020 after the tragic death of the show’s former presenter Caroline Flack.

Paul Mortimer, director of reality programming and acquisitions and controller at ITV2, ITVBe and CITV, said that finding a new presenter to replace Laura was "never going to be easy".

He added: "In Maya Jama though, we have another high-profile fan of the show who’ll be a great addition to the Love Island family.

"Cool, charming and charismatic, I speak for us all when I say Maya will also bring a unique presenting style to the show, as did Laura and, of course, the very much missed Caroline Flack.

"We’re very pleased to have her on board."

Love Island returns in January to ITV2.
