First look at Love Island's new villa in Mallorca as revamp work begins ahead of series

Fans of Love Island have been given a first look at the brand new villa for this year's series which will kick off next month.

Construction work is well under way to give the six-bedroom pad in Mallorca a revamp, before it welcomes the latest batch of sexy singletons.

And it seems bosses have pulled out the stops for the new villa, with tradesmen pictured on site transforming the outdoor area for the eighth series, which is set to start on June 6.

Scaffolding spans one side of the house, presumably to recreate a new outdoor kitchen area for the contestants, while various machinery and tractors are dotted around the land.

With the new series just weeks away, it seems the builders have their work cut out to transform the rustic villa into Love Island's brand new abode.

At the beginning of the year, it was reported Love Island's famous villa, situated in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar in the north-east, would be axed - with bosses searching for a brand new location.

Speaking at the time, a source explained to The Sun that " ITV bosses think this is the right moment to refresh this element of the show.

"Now they’re considering a range of options, but want to stay on the island which has provided the perfect sunny backdrop for the show.

"Bosses are conscious of the fact that this is also an opportunity to consider all the new elements they could introduce to enhance the show even further."

Mirror Online has contacted ITV for comment.

The property is still said to boast fan favourites from the show, including the all important firepit - the setting for each recoupling - and swimming pool as per the previous series.

Furthermore, it has been reported bosses have created the biggest gym and workout area ever seen on the ITV2 show since its inception in 2015.

Producers reportedly hope the new feature will get the Islanders' hearts racing and incite them to hook up more with each other.

Anticipation is beginning to build among fans after ITV2 offered a first look at the new series with a cheeky teaser trailer.

Declaring 'war' on other copycat dating shows, they say: "Love Island is the OG of dating shows and after 7 years of matchmaking, marriages and babies - for 8 weeks this summer, we're officially owning love. So stand down all you pretenders - Love Is Ours."

In one short teaser, Love Island pokes fun at rival shows Naked Attraction, Celebs Go Dating and Ex On The Beach.

A graphic shows a TV screen with the title "Naked Celebs Go Dating On A Beach."

The TV is quickly squashed by a pink hearted trainer as the words "LOVE" stand centre stage by the show's iconic pool and a flag flies with the words "WE OWN IT."

Another teaser shows inflatables arranged spelling "THE OGS OF LOVE" as two naked people kiss.

It comes after it was revealedWinter Love Island is reportedly returning to TV screens two years after it was axed.

Host Laura Whitmore hosted the winter version of the ITV reality show back in 2020 which saw couple Finn Tapp and Paige Turley win the prize money in South Africa.

However, it only ran for one series and bosses decided to scrap it due to the pandemic.

According to The Sun, a source said: "Love Island bosses enjoyed the one and only series of Winter Love Island, but it was just before the pandemic raged so was shelved for 2021.

"When they started casting for this summer’s series they thought there’s definitely enough talent to do a second series again so have started the plans for a 2023 Winter Love Island.

"The series generally is really important for them as it attracts the all-important younger viewers, so if they can get a second series in one year then everyone will be delighted," the insider added.
