A new shop offering vintage clothing has opened its doors in the city centre. Argang opened on Wednesday, April 5, replacing Braderie in Hockley.
The new vintage shop, on Pelham Street, sells very similar clothes to Braderie but the unit now has a new look. Hoping to be popular with the students in the city, American college wear-style clothes are ready to be bought off the racks.
Charlotte Scott and her husband Neil are the new owners. Charlotte was part of the team at Braderie but has now taken the plunge to take the shop on herself.

She said: “I’ve been painting non-stop for the past 10 days. I had worked for Braderie since I was 21.
Argang is Danish for ‘vintage’ or a ‘good year.’ Charlotte, now 37, said: “I’ve given it a lick of paint and opened it up a bit. We’ll be adding new rails for the walls and window graphics, it is a work in progress currently."
“I helped make Bradeire work and we’ll have the exact same brands and suppliers here. We will have more womenswear too.”
With the many independent shops in Hockley, Charlotte said she was happy for her new shop to be located in the area too. She said: “Hockley’s brilliant, there’s always a never-ending stream of people here.”
