First Lady Melania Trump to miss another major political event

Melania Trump Donald Trump

First Lady Melania Trump will skip President Donald Trump's upcoming two-day midterms convention in Dallas, continuing her trend of missing major political engagements.
At least 45 GOP lawmakers are also declining to attend the event, citing high entrance fees, prior obligations, or concerns over Trump's low approval ratings.
President Trump remains scheduled as the headline speaker on both days of the convention, offering high-priced photo opportunities and roundtable access to donors.
The Republican National Committee event faces scheduling conflicts, as it clashes with the NFL season opener and occurs a day before the 25th anniversary of September 11.
Melania Trump has maintained an unusually sparse public schedule this year, making public appearances on only 40 days so far.
