The ‘hopeful’ saplings from the felled Sycamore Gap tree set to be planted

The first saplings cultivated from the illegally felled Sycamore Gap tree are poised for planting as National Tree Week gets underway, the National Trust has announced.

Five of these new growths will be placed in the ground this Saturday, with more than half of the 49 "trees of hope" – propagated from the sycamore that graced a dip in Hadrian’s Wall for over a century – anticipated to be planted throughout the week.
