Four years after music fans said goodbye to the iconic Belfast venue, the Mandela Hall has announced two new gigs ahead of its big reopening.
After extensive construction work, the brand new Mandela Hall is set to reopen this Autumn as part of a multi-million-pound redevelopment of the Students’ Union building.
Venue Booker Colum Fitzsimons told Belfast Live that the revamp will be "a fantastic asset" to the city as it prepares to open its doors just in time for the start of the upcoming 2022/2023 term.

He said: "The Mandela Hall is first and foremost a resource for students and we plan to hold a number of student events at the start of the new term to kick things off.
"The venue also has a rich history of hosting some of the finest local, national and international musical & comedic talent to visit Belfast and we hope to continue that tradition going forward.
"The calendar is already starting to fill up with new shows and the venue will be a fantastic asset to Belfast’s arts and entertainment offering.
The first shows to be announced for the new Mandela Hall are Irish comedy legend Kevin McAleer, fresh from starring in Derry Girls as Uncle Colm, and comic Tom Stade's 'The High Road’ show.
The new Mandela Hall will have a capacity of 1,000 and a state of the art lighting and audio system and will cater for a wide range of student events as well as live concerts, comedy shows and podcasts.
As well as the Mandela Hall venue, the new Students’ Union building will have a brand new Students’ Union bar upstairs with an adjacent roof terrace. The Union bar will have nightly entertainment and pool tables available.
The building will also have a smaller venue next to the main SU bar for student society events and smaller local gigs.
Kevin McAleer will gig at the Mandela Hall on Saturday, October 15, 2022, and Tom Stade will bring his impeccable style and his usual sense of mischief to Belfast on March 4, 2023.
Tickets for both shows on sale 10am this Friday 6th May from mandelahall.glistrr.com
