Captain Elizabeth Godwin died in a car crash on Friday (PA) -

A "trailblazing" young Army officer has been killed in a car crash. Captain Elizabeth Godwin, 28, the first female officer of the Life Guards, part of the Household Cavalry, died in Surrey on Friday.

Her Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Tom Armitage, paid tribute, describing her as "talented, resourceful and compassionate".
