First Cabinet minister switches sides to back Truss in race for No 10

Welsh Secretary Sir Robert Buckland has become the first Cabinet minister to publicly switch sides in the Tory leadership contest, coming out in support of Liz Truss.

Sir Robert had initially backed Rishi Sunak in the race to succeed Boris Johnson, citing his ability to lead the country through “challenging economic times”.
