Punters and staff were forced to evacuate a Scots leisure centre staff after thugs threw a lit firework into the premises last night.
According to Edinburgh Live, emergency services scrambled to the scene just before 9pm on October 31 when the fire alarm was activated after the live pyrotechnic was thrown into the lobby of Drum Brae Leisure Centre in Edinburgh.
It is undersood there were no injuries but cops have launched an investigation into the incident.
Edinburgh Leisure condemned the "reckless act" and said it was fortunate nobody was hurt.
A spokesperson said: "We can confirm that a firework was set off inside Drumbrae Leisure Centre, just before 9:00pm on October 31. As a result, the fire alarm was activated, and all customers were taken to the assembly point.
“Thankfully, no-one was hurt but this is a reckless act by an individual, not thinking about the potential consequences that might have occurred. Fortunately, on this occasion no-one was hurt. The fire brigade and police attended the site and are now investigating the incident.”
Speaking to the Record tonight, a Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed they have launched a probe.
They said: "At around 8.55 pm on Monday November 1, police received a report of a firework being thrown into the DrumBrae Leisure Centre building at Drum Brae Terrace, Edinburgh. There was no-one injured and enquiries are ongoing."
