Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus have rescued a man from a house fire.

Four fire appliances were sent to the blaze at Beechland Drive, the NIFRS said, adding that they found a “well developed fire” at a flat on the street.

The spokesman added that “six firefighters with breathing apparatus were deployed and rescued one casualty”. The spokesman said it was too early to establish any cause for the fire.

The Ambulance Service also responded to the incident.

A spokesman said: “The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 22:54 on Saturday 7 January 2023 following reports of a house fire in the Beechland Drive area of Lisburn.

“NIAS despatched a Rapid Response Paramedic and an Emergency Crew to the incident. Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken by ambulance to RVH.”

The patient’s condition is unknown at this time.
