Firefighters put out blaze at derelict farmhouse in Garforth

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service extinguished a blaze at a derelict farmhouse yesterday evening in the Garforth area. The fire department were alerted to the incident around 6.09pm and were able to get the situation swiftly under control.

The blaze, which took place along Selby Road, involved a two-storey farmhouse measuring approximately 30m x 30m.

Firefighters used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel to extinguish the fire, with crews from Garforth, Castleford, Leeds and Killingbeck on hand to assist.

There were no reported injuries or casualties and it is unknown if the fire is being treated as suspicious and therefore under investigation by police.

Garforth and Castleford attended together and supplied appliances, with Leeds providing aerial assistant and a pump, while Killingbeck also offered aerial support.
