The event unfolded when a semi-truck collided with three other vehicles, resulting in the truck crashing through a bridge's guardrail barrier, leaving the cab dangling over the Ohio River. The situation was dire, with a woman, also a veteran, trapped in the cab for at least 45 minutes.
Upon receiving the 911 call, Louisville First Responders swiftly arrived at the scene within three minutes. They wasted no time in setting up a rope system to facilitate the rescue. Divers stood by in the water below, prepared to act if the truck were to fall. Firefighter Bryce Carden of the Louisville Fire Department bravely rappelled down to the cab, harnessed the woman, and successfully lifted both to safety.
