Fire service statement over cordon on main road in Beeston

A busy road between Beeston and Chilwell was cordoned off as part of an emergency rescue operation. Firefighters taped off the junction of Imperial Road and Chilwell Road on Saturday (August 6).

Officials from the Stapleford Fire Station said they were asked to support the Specialist Rescue Team from the Highfields Fire Station. "We were asked to help rescue a resident from the first floor of their property, who had a serious injury," a spokesman for Stapleford Fire Service said.

"Using ladders and line rescue equipment, they were lowered from property. We worked closely with doctors and paramedics and aimed to give the best possible care."

For a short period while services were affected, NCT buses were accepting NET tickets and passes. The Stapleford Fire Station spokesman added: "If you were effected by the closure of the road and tram network, we apologise, this was only done when absolutely necessary."
