The fire service has issued a statement after a building in Basford was damaged during a storm before the weekend.
A police cordon was set up at the junction of Palm Street and Duke Street on Friday, February 18.
Steven Falconbridge, manager of Pearce Signs, said part of the building's roof came crashing down during Storm Eunice.
It was said only part of the roof had collapsed.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We received a call to a dangerous structure on Duke Street in New Basford on Friday, February 18, at 3.15pm.
"A roof had partly come off and was about to fall onto the pavement.
"Group Manager Holford was dispatched to the scene and, after assessment, advised the business owner to contact the local authority."
The storm also caused significant damage to Basford United's Greenwich Avenue stadium, as as winds reached more than 50mph across Nottinghamshire.
A family was rescued from their car by firefighters after becoming stranded in a brook in East Leake, while a tree fell onto a home in Mapperley.
It came in the wake of Storm Dudley which caused trees to fall in Mansfield and Ruddington, as well as onto a home in Wollaton.
While Storm Franklin has caused disruption to travel and flooding with parks across the city closed and trains and buses affected.
