Edinburgh fire crews are tackling a blaze at a block of the flats on the outskirts of the city.
Firefighters were called to the high-rise on Hailesland Park in Westerhailes. at around 4pm on Thursday, after hearing reports of an inferno within a property. Pictures from show a dramatic rescue operation taking place, with a height appliance being used by crews to reach the flat seemingly in the middle of the tall block.
Locals reported seeing multiple fire engines driving past them on route to the scene. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed their attendance, to Edinburgh Live at around 5.25pm.

The cause of the fire was not disclosed, nor if anyone had been injured. The high-rise blocks are located just off Hailseland Road, with several similar buildings sitting beside each other.
Elsewhere, crews in Midlothian were called to a fire in a field around the same time on Thursday. Locals reported seeing smoke from over a mile away. It is understood that officers in the area have since extinguished that particular blaze.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 2.46pm on Thursday, July 21 to reports of smoke coming from the 7th floor of a building at Hailesland Park, Edinburgh.
“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and one height vehicle to the scene. Firefighters extinguished a fire affecting a communal area of the 6th floor of a high-rise building.
“One casualty was in the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and crews left the scene after ensuring the area was safe.”
