A FIRE near a railway in West Lothian has caused all affected lines to close, with delays to services expected.
Network Rail have confirmed that a blaze between Armadale and Bathgate means that all lines are closed, meaning trains running between Airdrie and Haymarket may be delayed or revised.
Disruption to by Saturday services is expected until 7pm.
Alternative routes advised to take are:
- Helensburgh to Edinburgh for stations to High Street
- Balloch to Airdrie for stations to Bellgrove
Network Rail added: "If you have had to drive to another station your ticket will be valid to collect your car on your return journey. Speak to a member of staff to validate your ticket."
In a statement on Twitter/X, ScotRail said: "We have been advised there is a lineside fire which is currently affecting our trains. Scottish Fire & Rescue are on site working to extinguish the fire.
"Due to the fire, it is suspected there is some cable damage affecting the signalling system also but Network Rail won't be able to confirm the extent until the Fire service declare it safe to approach the area."
The operator asked travellers to use their app and website for revised service information.
