Fire guts bedroom of apartment in Swansea street as multiple emergency services rush to scene

A bedroom has been completely destroyed after a fire broke out in an apartment in Swansea. Firefighters were called to the incident in the Sketty area of the city on Monday afternoon.

A number of fire engines were sent to Vivian Road at around 1pm, with crews from Swansea West, Morriston and Gorseinon all in attendance, having been called to reports of smoke coming from an upstairs window.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed that the blaze was confined to one bedroom of the apartment, but that it had been “completely destroyed by fire”. You can get the latest WalesOnline newsletters e-mailed to you directly for free by signing up here.

Crews used four breathing apparatus sets, two hose reel jets, two thermal imaging cameras and one turntable ladder to extinguish the fire. They also isolated the property’s gas and electric supply for safety reasons, before leaving the scene shortly after 2.20pm.

Officers from South Wales Police were also at the scene as the road was closed while firefighters attended the property, but there were no reported injuries as a result of the fire.
