Emergency services have been called to popular south Liverpool street Lark Lane this evening.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue arrived on the street at 6pm and discovered a pillar coming away from a double-fronted detached property. The roof structure collapsed into the first floor and residents were asked to leave the building immediately.
The pavement has been cordoned off by police and a Liverpool City Council building surveyor has been requested to attend the incident.

An eyewitness at the scene said: “I saw the flashing lights through the window of the pub during the match but thought it might have been just some overexcited fans. Only when I came out did I realise a fire engine had blocked off the road.
"Two police cars also flew down Lark Lane with their blue lights. The firefighters put up a cordon across the road and blocked off all traffic coming down. Loads of people were stood around watching the firefighters working. It was a massive surprise to see that on a Sunday. You don’t really see that down Lark Lane.”
A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue: "The building surveyor has advised the building owner of next steps. Specialists are on their way to complete work required to remove the pillar and shore up the roof. The occupant of the flat will be rehoused while building works are completed.
"Incident has now been handed over to the building owner. Police are remaining in attendance to manage the cordon and road closure."
