Fire crews worked to put out a fire at cornfields next to residential properties and a care home in County Durham.
Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene of a field fire in Trimdon Station this afternoon (August 12).
The alarm was raised following reports as the blaze tore through fields and threatened to spread to nearby gardens, allotments containing live stock and a residential care home.

Two appliances attended the field fire where crews immediately acted to prevent the fire spreading to gardens right at the field edge.
Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service did not confirm the cause of the fire.
This comes after a number of grass fires in the North East already this week during this period of extreme temperatures with blazes in Walbottle in Newcastle, Greenside in Gateshead, Redesdale Forest in the Scottish Borders and at Ryton Willows in Gateshead.
In footage taken by a member of the public, the smoke can be seen billowing out across the cornfield in the direction of residential homes, with the terrain beneath left scorched as a result of the extensive flames.
A spokesperson for Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said: We can confirm there was a fire at the cornfields in Trimdon Station.
"We received the call at 3pm and two appliances were dispatched to the scene from Wheatley Hill and Peterlee.
"Our crews arrived at 3:16pm. The fire was extinguished and they left at 3:52pm."
