A number of fire crews were rushed to a blaze near a petrol station in Trafford this evening (August 10). Plumes of black smoke could be seen above the Londis garage on Chester Road, Stretford, just before 8pm.
Witnesses say firefighters were quickly able to get the fire under control. The cause of the fire has not been disclosed but fire crews were at the scene for around an hour and a half making the premises safe.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service said: “Just before 8pm this evening (10 August) firefighters were called to reports of a fire at a commercial premises on Chester Road, Stretford. Fire crews from Stretford, Sale, and Moss Side fire stations arrived quickly at the scene.

"Crews used hose reels to extinguish the fire before working to make the scene safe. GMFRS were at the scene for around an hour and a half.”
