A mischievous dog who found himself stuck on a "very steep" cliff edge in County Durham was rescued by firefighters.
Zack, the English springer spaniel, had become stuck on a cliff's edge at Gunners Bridge in Castle Eden Dene earlier in the week. The pooch had nowhere to go at the local beauty spot and needed urgent help.
Thankfully, County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service were on hand to help. Peterlee Red Watch rushed to the scene and used a harness to bring Zack safely down from the cliff edge and back with his relieved owners.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Unfortunately Zack had managed to get himself into a 'woof' situation and was stuck on a very steep cliff edge at Gunners bridge in Castle Eden Dene. But thankfully our crews were quickly on hand to save the day!"
Residents rushed to praise the crews with one saying: "Magic... rescuing 4 legs as well as 2 legs," while another said: "All life is worth saving" and a third said: "Well done to all involved".
The coastguard is also regularly called out to pet-related rescue operations. Last year, team members from Sunderland and Hartlepool Coastguard Rescue Teams rescued Bella the dog after she got stuck halfway down cliffs at Ryhope.
