A ferry caught fire carrying 189 people across the English Channel. Rescuers scrambled lifeboats to the scene, between Dover and Calais.
Emergency services rushed to the boat, which was ablaze in the middle of the 21-mile stretch, to save passengers onboard. The people on board were sent out to assembly points on the Irish Ferries liner.
It is understood those travelling are safe. And the fire on the ferry has been contained and extinguished, the Mirror reports.
The Royal National Lifeboat Institution told the Mirror tonight: "I can confirm RNLI lifeboats from Ramsgate, Dover and Dungeness have launched to a fire onboard a ferry mid-way between Dover and Calais."
BBC reporter Simon Jones has tweeted: "Three lifeboats have been launched to reports of a fire on board a ferry in the Channel. There are 183 people on board the Isle of Innisfree."
A spokesman for Irish Ferries said "The ship is carrying 94 passengers and 89 crew and all are safe and accounted for. The Coastguard has been informed and is ready to provide assistance if required. The vessel is currently safely at anchor."
