Fire breaks out at underground Hamilton car park near school and supermarket

Emergency services raced to a fire in an underground car park in Hamilton on Tuesday morning.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene of billowing smoke at the car park near Morrisons supermarket and a town primary school.

Fire officers confirmed reports of a fire affecting a trailer in the area.

No one was injured as a result of the blaze.

A spokeswoman for the service told Lanarkshire Live : "We were alerted at 11.18am on Tuesday, 26 April to reports of a fire in a underground car park on Auchinraith Avenue, Hamilton.

"Operations control mobilised one appliance to the scene to extinguish a fire affecting a trailer.

"There were no reported casualties. Firefighters left after making the area safe."
