The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of West Bengal Police has registered a first information report (FIR) against two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Members of Parliament — Subhas Sarkar and Jagannath Sarkar — in connection with irregularities in recruitments to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Kalyani. The institute is located in the State’s Nadia district.
Charges named in the FIR are under Sections 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 120B (criminal conspiracy), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code, and under Sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Mr. Subhas Sarkar is the MP from Bankura and holds the portfolio of Minister of State for Education. Mr. Jagannath Sarkar is the MP from Santipur in Nadia district.
