Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Italiano has admitted that he doesn’t know where Dusan Vlahovic's future lies amid major interest from Arsenal.
football.london understands that the Gunners are eyeing the Serbian hitman and are aiming to complete a deal before the end of the January transfer window.
With less than two weeks left to go, a move to the Emirates Stadium has not been forthcoming as the Serie A club attempt to earn up to €70million (£63million) from his services. It has been reported that Arsenal would be open to paying his considerable asking price - only for demands from his agents scuppering any hope of a deal.
Fiorentina boss Italiano has conceded that he does not know where the striker’s future could lie but in the meantime Vlahovic remains motivated to play for the club.
As quoted by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, he said: "At the moment we enjoy Dusan here at Fiorentina, he's with us - I don't know about the future.
"He scored a great goal today. I see him very motivated, he's relaxed."
Italiano’s comments come after Vlahovic endured somewhat of a rollercoaster of emotions during his side’s 6-0 thumping of Genoa on Monday evening.
The 21-year-old missed a first-half penalty - Salvatore Sirigu saving his chipped effort.
However, Vlahovic did make up for his error after the break by finding the back of the net for his 17th Serie A goal of the season so far - putting him level with Lazio marksman Ciro Immobile for the campaign.
After finding the back of the net, the striker appeared to be apologising to Fiorentina fans but whether that is to do with his poor penalty or questions over his future, remains to be seen.
Whilst he continues to score for Fiorentina, it looks highly unlikely that he will remain at the Stadio Artemio Franchi for the foreseeable future.
He has just a year-and-a-half remaining on his current contract with the club and should a January move not come about, it seems almost certain that he would be on the move in the summer, with Spanish giants Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur also thought to hold an interest.
