Manchester United's supporters saluted attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes after he fired the Reds into a deserved lead against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Wednesday evening.
With 43 minutes on the clock, the Portugal international, who has now registered 100 direct goal contributions in United colours, swept Erik ten Hag's side into the lead from just inside the penalty area. He received Christian Eriksen's clever pass inside, took a touch to open his body up and curled a lovely right-footed effort into the far corner.
Fernandes, who scored a controversial leveller during United's 2-1 derby day win over Manchester City on Saturday, returned to his natural attacking-midfield berth against Palace and bossed proceedings inside the opening 45 minutes, leading by example with the captain's armband on.

His goal arrived just three minutes after goalkeeper David de Gea had made a stunning save to thwart Odsonne Edouard, meaning the deadlock-breaker arrived at a significant juncture in the contest. It was an excellent finish from Fernandes and United's supporters were quick to wax lyrical about the quality of it.
