The final injury report for Week 16 is out and contains some good news for the Washington Commanders.
Head coach Ron Rivera told reporters after practice that defensive end Chase Young would play Saturday against the San Francisco 49ers. Young will likely only see a limited number of snaps, but it’s a step in the right direction for Young, who tore his ACL last November.
In other injury news, two key members of the secondary, safety Kamren Curl [ankle] and cornerback Benjamin St-Juste [ankle], are listed as questionable for Saturday. Curl did not practice Friday, while St-Juste remained limited. From all indications, St-Juste will play against the 49ers.
Guard Saahdiq Charles will miss his second consecutive game due to a concussion. Charles’ absence impacts Washington’s depth, which is concerning against San Francisco.
Running backs Antonio Gibson and Brian Robinson Jr. and left guard Andrew Norwell all practiced Friday and will play.
Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, wide receiver Deebo Samuel and defensive tackle Kevin Givens are all out for the 49ers. Garoppolo is out for the season, while Samuel is out for multiple weeks, so those weren’t a surprise.
