'Final Fantasy VII Revelation': Epic Games Store Leaks Story Expansion Pass Coming Soon

"Final Fantasy VII Revelation" is coming next year, but more new details about the game have been appearing online, including a leak from the Epic Games Store that reveals that a story expansion pass is coming.

The leak is not an official announcement, but it signals that Square Enix has plans to extend the game's story beyond what launches at release.

'Final Fantasy VII Revelation' Is Getting a Story Expansion Pass

According to IGN, a Story Expansion Pass was discovered inside the Epic Games Store's backend, pointing to downloadable content that appears to be in development for the upcoming RPG.

The "Final Fantasy VII Revelation" Story Expansion Pass listing was spotted by EpicDB, a tracker that monitors new additions to the Epic Games Store's backend before they are formally announced.

The listing does not include pricing, a specific release date, or content details, but its presence in the system is generally a reliable indicator that the product is being actively developed and is intended for release at some point after the main game.

Square Enix had already established a pattern of releasing story-focused DLC with the previous entries in the trilogy. "Final Fantasy VII Remake" received the "Intermission" episode featuring Yuffie as a PS5 exclusive chapter, and "Final Fantasy VII Rebirth" later followed a similar content structure.

The appearance of an expansion pass listing for "Revelation" before the game has even launched suggests the studio is continuing that same approach for the trilogy's final installment.

Epic Games Store Leaks 'FFVII Revelation' Expansion

The EpicDB entry does not clarify whether the Story Expansion Pass covers a single piece of downloadable content or whether it is structured as a season-style bundle grouping multiple releases together.

Both formats are plausible given Square Enix's history with large RPG releases and paid content across its franchises.

As IGN noted, this kind of pre-launch content surfacing in store databases has historically preceded official announcements by weeks or months. Square Enix has not responded to the leak, and no details have been confirmed.

What to Expect From 'Final Fantasy VII Revelation'?

"Final Fantasy VII Revelation" is the third and final entry in Square Enix's multipart reimagining of the original 1997 "Final Fantasy VII." The game's official description frames it as the decisive conclusion: the final battle to decide the fate of the world has begun.

Players will take to the skies, chart their course across a vast open world, and stand with their companions against Sephiroth one last time. The tagline, "Everything leads here," reinforces that this installment is built to serve as a definitive ending.

The game is launching on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam, and the Epic Games Store next year, with no specific dates yet apart from the Spring 2027 confirmation.

For a trilogy that began with "Final Fantasy VII Remake" in 2020 and continued with "Final Fantasy VII Rebirth" in 2024, a Story Expansion Pass for the closing chapter would give Square Enix a way to expand on what is otherwise the end of a significant multi-year project.
