Development on Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is already underway, according to creative director Tetsuya Nomura.
During the 25th Anniversary broadcast on Thursday, Square Enix finally revealed Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth – the remake trilogy’s second installment. While there’s no release date yet, it should land sometime next winter. Unfortunately, that means we’re still more than a year away from setting foot on Gaia again. However, Nomura did give a vague statement regarding Part 3.
“The development of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has been progressing rapidly since we adopted a new development structure. A title of this scale in which everything is interconnected even before production began is truly rare,” Nomura said on Twitter. “In fact, some development has already begun on the third title. I myself have started on the development and am working toward the completion of the series.”
It’s not much, but hey, at least the team is getting the ball rolling. If Rebirth comes out in 2023, that would be more than three years since Final Fantasy 7 Remake was released. So get comfortable.
If nothing else, the prequel Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 is out this holiday. The first part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake is on Steam now as well.
