Filming of the movie “Rust” resumed in 2023 at Yellowstone Film Ranch in Montana, as confirmed by a spokesperson for Rust Movie Productions in April. The production of this western film, starring Alec Baldwin, had come to a tragic halt in 2021 when a prop gun held by Baldwin fired a live round of ammunition during rehearsal, resulting in the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and the injury of director Joel Souza.
In 2022, Matthew Hutchins, Halyna Hutchins’ widower, and Alec Baldwin settled a wrongful death lawsuit through an undisclosed agreement. As part of this settlement, the movie “Rust” is set to be completed, with Matthew Hutchins taking on the role of an executive producer. Baldwin and Souza are also slated to return to finish the project, according to Rust Movie Productions.
Earlier in February, it was announced that filming would no longer take place at the original location of Bonanza Creek Ranch in New Mexico. Additionally, a source close to the production revealed that the scene in the church where the tragic incident occurred would not be re-filmed and has been removed from the storyline entirely.
