Film crews have descended on a Greater Manchester town once again as the reboot of an iconic 90s favourite takes shape. Bolton has certainly been no stranger to film crews in recent years.
The town starred in popular BBC comedy Alma's Not Normal , while its streets have portrayed other locations in hit shows such as It's A Sin and Peaky Blinders . This week, cameras and crew are back in the town centre as filming takes place for the revival of a cult classic from 25 years ago.
The Full Monty was a huge hit when it landed in cinemas back in 1997, following the story of six unemployed Sheffield men who form a male striptease act to make money and help main character Gaz - played by Robert Carlyle - see his son. It went on to be named Best Film at the Baftas and was nominated for four Oscars, winning one.
Now, the cast are reuniting for a new series on Disney+. Filming began in Sheffield back in March, and this week the cameras rolled into Bolton, with the crew working at the old Specsavers unit at Crompton Place Shopping Centre.
Philip Richards captured some members of the cast at work on the set. They include Carlyle as well as Paul Barber, who stars as Horse, Steve Huison as Lomper, and Mark Addy as Dave.
Filming at the site continues today (August 3). A release date for The Full Monty on Disney+ is yet to be confirmed.
