Filip Jorgensen admits 'it's fun' being linked with a summer move to Chelsea

Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen has described links with a summer move to Chelsea as “fun”.

The Blues are set to prioritise the signing of a new goalkeeper following the appointment of Enzo Maresca.

Former Leicester City boss Maresca penned a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge on Monday and will have some input into signings made this summer, though will not be given control over the club’s recruitment plans.

Burnley’s James Trafford is among the targets being considered, while reports have claimed Chelsea have contacted Jorgensen’s representatives over a potential move.

The 22-year-old is a product of Villarreal’s academy and has played for Denmark at U21 level after switch allegiances from Sweden, the country in which he was born.

Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic both had spells as Chelsea’s first choice goalkeeper under Mauricio Pochettino last season but the signing of a new option there is thought to be on the club’s agenda.

Fellow goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga spent the season on loan at Real Madrid but the Champions League winners are unlikely to make the deal a permanent arrangement.

Thibaut Courtois, who was signed from Chelsea in 2018, has recovered from the long-term injury that prompted Los Blancos to move for Kepa and Ukraine international Andriy Lunin impressed as a back-up option in the Spanish capital.

Speaking to Tipsbladet, Jorgensen said: “It is fun. It shows that I have done something good and done it well.

“It is hard to say [regarding his future].

“I just want to get better every day and do the best I can. There is no definite plan. If something good comes up, we can talk about it and look at what is best for me, for Villarreal and everyone involved.”

Chelsea are already closing in on their first new signing of the summer, with Tosin Adarabioyo heading for a medical ahead of a free transfer Fulham after the Blues hijacked Newcastle’s attempts to sign the defender.
