Giovanni van Bronckhorst is sweating on the fitness of John Lundstram and Filip Helander ahead of Rangers’ make or break week.
The pair limped out of the champions’ 4-0 rout of St Mirren - thanks to a Kemar Roofe hat-trick and Joe Aribo strike - in Paisley and the Ibrox boss is waiting to find out the extent of their injuries.
Lundstram suffered a groin injury and Helander immediately went for a scan on his foot with the Swedish stopper pictured arriving at hospital on crutches
Helander - out for five months earlier this season - is ineligible for Thursday’s crucial Europa League quarter final second leg against Braga but Lundstram has been key in Europe while there is also the massive Scottish Cup semi-final showdown against Celtic just days later.
Van Bronckhorst told Sky Sports: “Lundstram felt his groin a little bit so we have to assess him in the next days but hopefully he can make it for Thursday and Helander fell a bit awkward and is getting a scan so we will know his injury.”
The Dutchman was delighted to get back to winning ways following successive losses against Celtic and Braga.
And there was no doubt about the man of the moment: “I’m very happy for Kemar. We need goals and I’m happy for him to score his first hat trick for Rangers and those goals helped us to win this game.
“We said before the game we needed to win and get back to winning ways and I’m happy we did without conceding and it gives us confidence for Thursday and the games ahead.
“It was very important to start really well and score a good goal in the first minutes and just before half time.
“We’re confident because we won but we’re always confident we can get a good result at home in Europe as we showed in the past so it’s everything to play for.
“It’s a semi-final in Europe to fight and work hard for so with the support of the crowd… today they gave us the support we needed at this time and Thursday will be the same.”
