Fikayo Tomori struggled in midweek against Chelsea, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the other Blues attackers causing havoc to a usually solid AC Milan defence.
This wasn't the same story on Saturday evening as the Rossoneri dispatched Serie A strugglers Juventus by a two-goal margin at the San Siro.
Goals on the stroke of half-time by the defender in question himself and then in the 54th minute by Brahim Diaz ensured order was restored for Stefano Pioli's side, who, in all honesty, looked rather off-colour in the English capital on Wednesday during the week.
That win now has the red side of Milan back in third place, and the confidence of that win. The fact that Graham Potter's side also won today in the Premier League against Wolves should set up the return next Tuesday very well, as both need points in their ever-changing Group E Champions League group.

As revealed post-match, the 23-year-old's goal was manufactured on the training ground and maybe he can work on another set-piece routine ahead of the return leg against his former side as he will be eager to impress on his second chance against the club that let him go on the cheap.
"Oh yes, we worked on that in training!" he said via Football Italia. "No, obviously, I was a little fortunate, but I am happy with the goal, the clean sheet and the victory."
Whether it was Rafael Leao's non-pressing or the ineffectiveness of the midfield, Tomori knows that mistakes were made at Stamford Bridge on match day 3. He listed just where it went wrong as promises were made to the Milan fanbase ahead of the big kick-off on Tuesday night.
He added in the same interview: "Obviously, we have another game against Chelsea coming up, and we want to do more on the pitch, not just in terms of performance, but also aggression. We had a bit more determination today and will try to win on Tuesday."
