Philadelphia police announced the arrest of a fifth teenager in connection with a shooting incident that occurred earlier this month at a transit bus stop in Northeast Philadelphia. The shooting left eight high school students wounded, with the victims ranging in age from 15 to 17 years old.
According to Deputy Police Commissioner Frank Vanore, the 15-year-old suspect served as a lookout during the shooting on March 6. He allegedly communicated with the perpetrators, providing them with photos and descriptions of certain individuals at the bus stop. The suspects fired at least 30 shots before fleeing the scene.
The newly arrested teenager had been inside a Dunkin’ Donuts store before the shooting and was seen on video footage. He faces charges including attempted murder and aggravated assault.
Police are still investigating the motive behind the shooting and are looking into possible connections to other crimes. Vanore mentioned that there is additional evidence to review and believes that other incidents may be linked to the arrested teens.
Earlier this month, four individuals were charged in connection with the shooting: Jamaal Tucker, Ahnile Buggs, Jermahd Carter, and Asir Boone. Tucker and Buggs are facing charges related to all eight victims, including attempted murder, aggravated assault, firearms violations, and more. Carter and Boone were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and firearms violations.
The investigation into the shooting involved the use of stolen vehicles to identify the suspects. The 15-year-old suspect, whose name is being withheld due to his age, is currently in custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
