A singer-songwriter sometimes referred to as the fifth member of Little Mix due to her frequent collaborations says she’s been left saddened by Jesy Nelson appearing to be at odds with her former bandmates.
Nelson recently released the music video for her debut solo single ‘Boyz’ to mixed reviews and accusations of Blackfishing.
Following the release, influencer @NoHun_ leaked unverified screenshots of messages from former bandmate Leigh-Ann Pinnock. In these messages, Pinnock accuses Nelson of blocking the band on social media and asking @NoHun_ to “do a video about her being a Blackfish instead.”
On Tuesday, Kamille took to Twitter to express her feelings about the situation. Kamille earned her unofficial fifth member status due to her longterm relationship with the group, co-writing 30 singles overall, 6 of which ended up charting on the UK Top 20.
Kamille also appears to have unfollowed Minaj on Instagram, presumably in solidarity with the remaining Little Mix members.

Nelson recently decided to address them on an Instagram Live stream with Minaj, who has a verse on ‘Boyz’. The rapper defended Nelson against the Blackfishing accusations and had some harsh words for Pinnock: “Sweetheart, take them messages and shove them up your ass. Don’t come out to try and ruin anyone, let her enjoy this time. Print them text messages out, buss that ass open and shove it up your motherf***ing ass.” Minaj went onto accuse Pinnock of being jealous of Nelson’s solo career and call her a ‘f***ing clown’ all while Nelson seemed to nod and laugh.

Nelson also mentioned during the live stream that Pinnock did in fact accuse her of Blackfishing during the music shoot for “Sweet Melody,” one of Nelson’s last collaborations with the group. “It’s just hard for me,” Nelson told Minaj, “because I was in a group with two women of color for 9 years and it was never brought up to me until the last video.”
After facing backlash for the Instagram Live, a source told Metro that “what should have been a positive and happy celebration has been somewhat tainted by what has started to feel like an attack against her.” The source went on to disclose that Nelson is saddened to hear that her “so-called friends” have been encouraging online hate towards her, and that friends and family are checking in daily to make sure the singer is okay.
“‘It’s starting to become a Little Mix vs Jesy storyline,” said the source, “when ultimately the band and Jesy have always stood for women supporting women and so it’s a shame to see this taking such a such a turn.”
