The FIFA World Cup 2026 delivered several crucial results on June 24, with England dropping points against Ghana, Croatia keeping their knockout hopes alive, and Colombia sealing a place in the Round of 32.
While three matches were played on June 24 local time — England vs Ghana, Panama vs Croatia, and Colombia vs DR Congo — several other fixtures were played later and fell on June 25 according to Indian Standard Time, including Switzerland vs Canada, Bosnia and Herzegovina vs Qatar, Morocco vs Haiti, and Brazil vs Scotland.
England 0-0 Ghana
England's early World Cup momentum was halted after a frustrating 0-0 draw against Ghana.
After impressing in a 4-2 victory over Croatia in their opening match, England struggled to break down a disciplined Ghanaian defence and created few clear-cut chances. Ghana nearly earned a late penalty in the 79th minute when substitute Prince Adu went down in the box following a challenge from Ezri Konsa, but the referee waved play on.
England captain Harry Kane summed up his side's disappointing evening by blasting a late chance over the bar. The result left both England and Ghana on four points in Group L.
Croatia 1-0 Panama
Croatia boosted their chances of reaching the knockout stage with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Panama in Toronto.
Needing a response after their opening defeat to England, the 2018 runners-up and 2022 semi-finalists secured all three points thanks to Ante Budimir's 54th-minute strike. The result eliminated Panama from the tournament and moved Croatia to three points ahead of the final group-stage matchday.
Colombia 1-0 DR Congo
Colombia booked their place in the Round of 32 after defeating DR Congo 1-0 in Guadalajara.
Daniel Munoz scored the decisive goal in the 76th minute to hand Colombia their second consecutive victory. The win lifted Colombia to the top of Group K with six points, guaranteeing qualification for the knockout rounds with one match remaining.
Switzerland 2-1 Canada
Switzerland secured top spot in Group B after defeating co-hosts Canada 2-1.
After a quiet first half, Ruben Vargas opened the scoring shortly after the break before Johan Manzambi doubled the advantage in the 57th minute. Canada responded through substitute Promise David, but Switzerland held firm to finish the group stage on seven points.
Canada also progressed to the knockout rounds as Group B runners-up.
Bosnia and Herzegovina 3-1 Qatar
Bosnia and Herzegovina kept their qualification hopes alive with a 3-1 win over Qatar.
Teenage midfielder Kerim Alajbegovic starred with a stunning opening goal in the 29th minute. Bosnia doubled their lead five minutes later through an own goal before Qatar captain Hassan Al-Haydos reduced the deficit before halftime.
Substitute Ermin Mahmic added a late third to secure victory and move Bosnia to four points. Qatar finished bottom of the group and were eliminated.
Morocco 4-2 Haiti
Morocco confirmed their place in the Round of 32 with an entertaining 4-2 victory over Haiti.
Haiti twice took the lead, but Morocco responded on both occasions through Achraf Hakimi and Ismael Saibari. Late goals from Soufiane Rahimi and Gessime Yassine eventually sealed the win.
Morocco finished level on seven points with Brazil but ended second in Group C on goal difference.
Brazil 3-0 Scotland
Brazil cruised into the knockout stage with a dominant 3-0 victory over Scotland.
Vinicius Jr scored twice to continue his excellent tournament form, while Neymar made his first appearance for Brazil in nearly three years. The victory ensured Brazil topped Group C with seven points.
