Kylian Mbappe has lit up the 2022 World Cup so far. That is not entirely unexpected, with France one of the favourites to win the tournament in Qatar.
France have won both of their games so far, beating Australia 4-1 and then following that up with a 2-1 victory over Denmark. Mbappe has netted three goals in those two games, with a double against the Danes to take him to the top of the goalscorers' list for the tournament early on.
He is now the one to beat in the race for the Golden Boot, although Brazil and Tottenham frontman Richarlison will want to have his say on that as they take on Switzerland today in their second match at the tournament, having scored twice in the first clash.

What happens when Mbappe returns from Qatar is the subject of much speculation. The France star is always linked with a move away from Paris Saint-Germain and is reportedly unhappy in the French capital.
Real Madrid have consistently been linked with a move having tried to sign him last summer. However, the 23-year-old's snub of Los Blancos last summer appears to have had an impact.
Madrid are not thought to be interested in making another move for the France superstar and that could mean a move to the Premier League could open up instead. Chelsea have been linked with a move, alongside the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool.
But Mbappe is refusing to be drawn on his future. So much so that he is avoiding questions out in Qatar and could face a fine from FIFA as a result.
Mbappe avoided journalists' questions after the first game against Australia by not stopping in the mixed zone. And he did the same after the game against Denmark too.
The France Football Federation was warned after Mbappe was not presented for interview after the win over Australia that if the same thing happened again later in the tournament, that they would be fined, which looks set to happen. It is likely that the FFF and Mbappe will share the fine.
Mbappe wants to focus on France and not discuss his future, but the FFF and Mbappe look set to receive a fine because of his lack of media duties, which are not only restricted to post-match, but pre-match too, with the frontman not doing any media work so far at the tournament.
